Aspiring musicians often lack the necessary skills or resources to complete and professionally release their original music to the world. This could be due to limitations in songwriting (melody or lyrics), instrumental ability, or music production knowledge. These limitations prevent them from collaborating, creating complete songs, and reaching a wider audience.
In this context, "resource sharing" could possibly encompass a few different things:
Sharing musical skills and knowledge.
Sharing musical tools and assets like sound effects, audio samples, and sheet music.
Sharing Ideas, feedback, and suggestions to enhance the music creation process.
Connecting with industry professionals, mentors, and fellow musicians to expand one's network and opportunities.

Once I figured out what problem I wanted to solve, it was important to conduct research and validate that it is actually an issue that is being faced by the people and needs to be solved. To do so, I conducted several interviews, performed social listening and shared a survey with different types of musicians and people associated with the music industry in general.
After doing the research and figuring out the main problem statement, I created 4 user personas based on the target audience. The personas helped in understanding the users’ needs better and keep on track throughout the project.
In reference to one of the personas, I designed a User Journey Map detailing the journey of the user on the platform.
Having researched what the users’ need, how the flow of the platform will be and deciding the theme of the platform, I then went on to craft the initial paper prototypes for RhyMerge.
During each phase of the project, I tested the product to ensure it is aligned to the problem that needs to be solved and that users are able to understand it.
After building the paper prototype, I conducted extensive task-based user testing to check if the flow of the screens was right and if the users were easily able to navigate through it. Once the basic testing for the user flow was completed, I used my paper prototype and the user feedback received during testing to create digital low-fidelity and subsequently the high-fidelity wireframes.
Working on RhyMerge has been a transformative process. Deciding what problem to solve, coming up with an innovative solution for it, and building the product from scratch involves a lot of creative thinking and strategizing. One key takeaway I had during this project is that the design process is usually non-linear. Going into the project I knew UX designing is not linear and involves testing and revisions, but doing it hands-on made me realize how testing needs to be done almost at every step during the process. I had to revise and iterate my wireframes numerous times based on user feedback to make them efficient and easy for the user to navigate. Interestingly, that is the most exciting part of it, understanding how the users perceive my design and how I can make it better for them!
I tested these paper prototypes with the target audience to understand if the users are easily able to navigate through the screens and actually collaborate with other musicians.
Once the paper prototypes were tested, I went digital! So I created low-fidelity wireframes, tested them again for usability and heuristics, to then create the final high-fidelity prototypes.
